Perfumers’ notes:
Sandalwood oil is a valuable base note with natural fixative benefits that allow a fragrance to unfold more evenly over time. At low doses Australian sandalwood adds radiance and a rich naturality to a fragrance composition, its dry-woodiness, creaminess, spiciness and amber facets quietly unfolding, while amplifying the character of other ingredients. It also adds an unmistakeable warmth and depth, as seen in classics such as Santal 33, Santal Blush and Angel.
Fragrance applications from fine fragrance to body care, soap, candles, or air care applications, as well as incense and bakhour.
Aromatherapists’ notes:
Sandalwood is warm, grounding and fortifying, with many benefits for the mind and body. To apply topically dilute in a carrier oil (like jojoba oil), or diffuse using blends.

Across the globe, sandalwood has captured the imagination of those who live with the tree.
For Aboriginal people who have been custodians of sandalwood for more than 60,000 years, it is culturally and spiritually significant. At times of contemplation or stress, the wood is burned on the coals to align the mind, body and spirit and support decision-making. Also known for it’s powerful anti-microbial activity, poultices of ground sandalwood and herbs were applied to topical cuts and infections. By smashing the roots and creating an infusion, a liquid could be applied topically to arthritis and to relieve itching, supporting scientific studies demonstrating the anti-inflammatory properties of the oil.
Reported benefits of sandalwood essential oil include:
Calming, grounding, soothing.
Soothes and moisturises skin.
Sleep, stress and meditation aid.
The metaphysical benefits of sandalwood include:
Meditation-aid (mental clarity, crown chakra)
Connection (third eye)
Grounding (root chakras)
Mood enhancing (solar plexus chakra)
Aphrodisiac (sacral chakra)
